HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Michael Madden, Schaumburg Township District Library director, has won the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award of the North Suburban Library System; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Madden will be honored at the library system's annual banquet on March 17, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He has served as the director for 39 years and originally took the position just to gain experience; he has guided the library since its early years to its present position as a nationally recognized model library; and

WHEREAS, He first worked as a high school teacher in Chicago and then with the American Library Association; he took the position with the Schaumburg Township Library in 1967, two years after the library had opened; and

WHEREAS, He was chosen for the award because of his leadership and guidance skills; this is the North Suburban Library System's third annual Lifetime Achievement Award; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Michael Madden on winning the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award of the North Suburban Library System; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Madden as an expression of our esteem.
