HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Smithton Lady Cougars became the 2006 Girls' Class "M" State Basketball Champions after defeating the Pope County Lady Pirates with a score of 46 to 42; and

WHEREAS, They defeated the Cobden Appleknockers and Germantown to get to the championship game; and

WHEREAS, The championship game was an exciting one, tied at half time, with the score never differing by more than a few points; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars finished the season with a record of 19 wins and three losses; and

WHEREAS, The coaches of the Lady Cougars are Rick Curtis and Ryan Ledbetter; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Lady Cougars are Amanda Curtis, Brittany Hubert, Amanda Neff, Colleen Yarber, Breanna Bogard, Lindsey Ledbetter, Janel Whitworth, Ashley Johnson, and Kelsey Mueller; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Smithton Lady Cougars basketball team on becoming the 2006 Girls' Class "M" State Basketball Champions; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to each of the members and coaches of the Lady Cougars as an expression of our esteem.
