HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Germantown Trust & Savings Bank recently began its 100th year of serving Clinton County; and

WHEREAS, Originally founded to serve the needs of Germantown, the bank has grown to include four locations serving all of Clinton County; established as Germantown Savings Bank with beginning capital of $25,000, the bank was renamed Germantown Trust & Savings Bank in 1977 and currently holds assets in excess of $275,000,000; and

WHEREAS, The first officers of the bank were A.B. Daab, president; and H.H. Schlarmann, vice president and cashier; the board of directors included M.M. Stephens, former mayor of East St. Louis; E.C. Kramer, attorney for the Southern Railway Company; W.K. Kavanaugh, president of Southern Coal and Mining Company; J.A. Bauer, physician; Henry Koch, lumber merchant; A.B. Daab, vice president of the bank of Milstadt; and H.H. Schlarmann, recorder of Clinton County; and

WHEREAS, In 1976, Germantown Savings Bank received the power to operate a trust department and became one of only two trust departments within Clinton County; the Breese facility was built and opened in 1988, and Bartelso Savings Bank merged with Germantown Trust & Savings Bank in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Today, the bank has locations in Breese, Germantown, Bartelso, and Beckmeyer; the current board of directors includes James R. Lampe, Joanne Lampe, Dale G. Deiters, Janice L. Deiters, James R. Lampe II, Sylvia Henken, and Frank Frerker; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Germantown Trust & Savings Bank board of directors on the occasion of the bank's 100th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the board of directors of the Germantown Trust & Savings Bank as an expression of our esteem.
