HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the
4 Driscoll Catholic High School Football Team on winning the IHSA
5 Class 4A State Championship on November 25, 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Driscoll Catholic High School, located in
7 Addison, Illinois, and under the direction of the Diocese of
8 Joliet, was first founded under the Sisters of St. Francis and
9 the Brothers of the Christian Schools; and
 
10     WHEREAS, This victory marks Driscoll's fifth State
11 championship as well as a place in the record books as the only
12 high school in Illinois history to win 5 consecutive State
13 championships; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Under Coach Mike Burzawa, the Highlanders
15 defeated Newton High School in a well fought battle at the
16 University of Illinois Memorial Stadium; and
 
17     WHEREAS, With the support of Assistant Coaches Dan Cepek,
18 Bill Erzig, Nick Gebhart, Mike Loconsole, Brandon New, Joe
19 Petro, and John Pullia, Driscoll was victorious and reclaimed
20 the State championship; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Statistician Bob Crowe, Shawn Nykaza in charge of
22 film, and trainer Tricia Schank assisted the Highlander team in
23 their journey to the State championship title; and
 
24     WHEREAS, We offer our congratulations to graduating
25 seniors Ryan Palash, John Tranchitella, Kevin Letourneau,
26 Dominic Senese, Shane Franken, Kyle Jenkins, Justin Nudo, Matt
27 Miller, Louie Miceli, Mike Lotz, Frank Tenuto, Mike Redpath,
28 Nick Giacobbe, Kyle Kolber, Mike Raimondi, Lino Novielli, Ben
29 Boffa, Patrick Carroll, Matt Boisacy, Mike Fennell, Jeff

1 Turner, John Stenzel, John Laurel, Anthony DiGrazia, Dominic
2 Fontano, and Mike Gainey, who provided leadership to their
3 teammates; and
 
4     WHEREAS, The Driscoll football team also included Matt
5 Tremback, Colin Peterman, Tony Rallo, Chris Nickola, Phil Pedi,
6 Danny Taylor, Nick Lombardo, Joe Lara, Mike Fabrizi, Ryan
7 Felde, Matt Fields, David Schwabe, Kevin Palermo, Justin Kenny,
8 Sean Montividas, Jeff Eggert, Frank Amato, Kyle Sanders, Kevin
9 Agdeppa, Steven Schmal, Alex Gorogianis, Anthony Senese, Mike
10 Tabor, and Mike Echeverria; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The offensive team included Phil Pedi, John
12 Tranchitella, Justin Nudo, Dominic Fontano, Mike Redpath, Kyle
13 Jenkins, Ben Boffa, Mike Fennell, Jeff Turner, Anthony
14 DiGrazia, and Kyle Sanders; and
 
15     WHEREAS, The Highlander strong defense was lead by Nick
16 Giacobbe, Justin Kenny, Kyle Jenkins, Kevin Palermo, Justin
17 Nudo, Mike Fabrizi, Shane Franken, Mike Gainey, John
18 Tranchitella, Mike Redpath, and David Schwabe; and
 
19     WHEREAS, John Tranchitella led the team this season with 18
20 touchdowns and rushed for 744 yards; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Junior quarterback Phil Pedi completed 6 of 10
22 passes during the championship game for 108 yards in Driscoll's
23 drive for victory; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The team had a perfect undefeated season with 14
25 wins and no losses; and
 
26     WHEREAS, This season Driscoll added to their record of 65-5
27 since 2001 and 20 straight playoff victories; and
 
28     WHEREAS, Driscoll out-scored its opponents 471-102 and

1 allowed an average of only 7.3 points a game; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Superintendent Stephen Marth, Principal Fred
3 Muehleman, and Athletic Director Robert Carlson have worked
4 hard to continue the winning tradition of the athletic program
5 at Driscoll Catholic High School; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Campus Minister Laraine Parker guided the team
7 spiritually throughout the season; and
 
8     WHEREAS, We recognize the accomplishment of these young
9 athletes and their coaches; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12 we do hereby offer our congratulations to Coach Mike Burzawa
13 and the members of the Driscoll Catholic High School Football
14 Team on winning the IHSA 2005 Class 4A State Championship
15 Title; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Principal Fred Muehleman, Athletic Director
18 Robert Carlson, Coach Mike Burzawa, Driscoll Catholic High
19 School, and the Highlander State Championship team members.
