| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, On January 1, 2006, Medicare Part D prescription |
| 3 |
| drug coverage took effect; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, The media have been full of stories about how the |
| 5 |
| lives of senior citizens have been complicated by the advent of |
| 6 |
| Medicare prescription drug coverage; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Senior citizens have had to make choices |
| 8 |
| concerning their prescription drug coverage, and many have been |
| 9 |
| confused by the different options available; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Since January 1, 2006, many senior citizens have |
| 11 |
| experienced difficulty in getting prescriptions filled because |
| 12 |
| of problems in ascertaining or confirming their prescription |
| 13 |
| drug coverage; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Senior citizens' health and well-being, not to |
| 15 |
| mention their very lives, are often dependent on their ability |
| 16 |
| to obtain needed prescription drugs; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The State can and should do everything it can to |
| 18 |
| help senior citizens obtain the prescription drugs they need in |
| 19 |
| a timely fashion, including providing assistance to senior |
| 20 |
| citizens and pharmacists in ascertaining or confirming senior |
| 21 |
| citizens' prescription drug coverage; therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we urge the Governor to make signs available for posting in |
| 25 |
| pharmacies throughout the State giving statewide and local |
| 26 |
| telephone numbers that a pharmacist or senior citizen may call |
| 27 |
| for assistance in ascertaining or confirming a senior citizen's |
| 28 |
| prescription drug coverage and in getting their prescriptions |
| 29 |
| filled; and be it further
