HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is one of the privileges of the House of Representatives to commend and pay due honor and respect to persons who have given selflessly of themselves to the citizens of this State; and

WHEREAS, Mary Alice D'Arcy recently celebrated 25 years of service with Easter Seals DuPage; during that 25 years, she has seen the services that Easter Seals DuPage offers grow to include 70 on-staff therapists; and

WHEREAS, She was the recipient of the Myrtle M. and Tom B. Medders Award from National Easter Seals in recognition of her outstanding leadership and management of Easter Seals DuPage; and

WHEREAS, She started her work with Easter Seals DuPage as a social worker in 1980 and was named Executive Director in 1995; she maintains her Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW) through continuing education courses; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure as Executive Director, she oversaw the completion of a 31,000-square-foot building that serves the therapy needs of nearly 3,000 children with disabilities each year; following completion of the new building, Ms. D'Arcy obtained a grant to reinstate Social Services, a department that supports the therapies by helping children and families cope with the external issues involved in disability; these services are provided at no cost to the families of the children served; and

WHEREAS, Under her direction, more services are provided to children through the Sponsor-A-Child Program, which continues to grow and provide therapy services to children who otherwise could not afford it; she is also very active with the legislature, securing grants to further the work of Easter Seals DuPage; and

WHEREAS, Ms. D'Arcy's positive spirit infects everyone, and under her leadership, Easter Seals DuPage has grown, expanded, and become a dynamic force in DuPage County; her focus is always on the children and adults served through the organization's programs; she brings courage, empathy, direction, boldness, tenacity, and honesty to Easter Seals DuPage with quiet dignity and poise; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Mary Alice D'Arcy for her 25 years of dedicated service to Easter Seals DuPage, and we thank her for her selfless devotion to the needs of others; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mary Alice D'Arcy as an expression of our esteem.
