HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Lake County Chamber of Commerce (LCCC) was established in 1915 as the Waukegan Commercial Association and is celebrating 90 years of continuous service to the businesses of Lake County on December 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, The LCCC has grown and expanded over the years to reflect its membership; in 1915 it was established as an all-volunteer organization known as the Waukegan Commercial Association; in 1917 the original organization changed its name to the Waukegan Chamber of Commerce; reflecting the expansion of its membership, the organization in 1946 became known as the Waukegan/North Chicago Chamber of Commerce, in 1975 it became the Waukegan/Lake County Chamber of Commerce, and in the mid 1990's it became known as the LCCC; and

WHEREAS, The LCCC's records indicate that it is the oldest chamber of commerce in continuous operation in Lake County; the LCCC represents over 400 businesses from throughout Lake County and is the parent organization to 3 affiliate Chambers, the Gurnee Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Waukegan Chamber of Commerce; the parent organization strives to provide programming that will benefit any business no matter where in the county it is located; each affiliate chamber focuses on the businesses that make up its constituency; and

WHEREAS, The LCCC serves as an important social and economic facilitator in the communities of Lake County, sponsoring numerous events like the twice-monthly Networkers Group, Women's Networkers, a Business After Hours hosted by member businesses, the Lake County Power Breakfast, and the Business Luncheon series; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its 90 years the LCCC has proudly served the citizens and business community of Lake County promoting local businesses and the goods and services of those businesses; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lake County Chamber of Commerce on its 90th anniversary and recognize all of its members for their role in building a successful organization; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lake County Chamber of Commerce as an expression of our esteem.
