| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Civic organizations play a vital role in enhancing |
| 3 |
| the quality of life for Illinois citizens; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, The Galesburg Noon Lions Club was founded on |
| 5 |
| November 18, 1920; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Over the course of the last 85 years, the |
| 7 |
| Galesburg Noon Lions Club has made significant civic and |
| 8 |
| philanthropic contributions to its community; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The majority of the club's philanthropic efforts |
| 10 |
| go toward assisting the deaf and sight-impared members of the |
| 11 |
| community; Over the last 85 years, the Galesburg Noon Lions |
| 12 |
| Club has donated more than 4,000 pairs of eyeglasses to |
| 13 |
| disadvantaged people in the Galesburg community; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Each year, the Galesburg Noon Lions Club puts on |
| 15 |
| the Candy Day and Pancake Day fundraisers and hosts a Christmas |
| 16 |
| party for needy children; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The Galesburg Noon Lions Club has supported such |
| 18 |
| organizations and entities as the FISH food pantry, the |
| 19 |
| Salvation Army, the Galesburg Public Library, the local health |
| 20 |
| department, the Lake Story Recreation Area, and it endowed the |
| 21 |
| William K Richardson Scholarship at Carl Sandburg College; |
| 22 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 25 |
| we congratulate the Galesburg Noon Lions Club on the occasion |
| 26 |
| of its 85th anniversary, and we offer our gratitude for its |
| 27 |
| efforts to improve the lives of Illinois citizens; and be it |
