HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Dave Krahn, an Oswego Village Board Trustee and founding director of the Oswego Economic Development Corporation Board, has retired; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Krahn served on the Village Board of Trustees from 1993 to 1997 and 1999 to 2005; during his first term, he founded the Oswego Economic Development Corporation (OEDC), which opened for business on March 1, 1996; he served as Chairman of the OEDC Board of Directors from 1996 to 1997 and 2000 to 2004; during his tenure as OEDC Chairman, Oswego became a regional retail destination with the development of Oswego Commons, a 500,000-square-foot shopping center; many national retailers and restaurants have selected sites in Oswego, and several other shopping centers on Route 34 and on Orchard Road are now under construction; and

WHEREAS, Also during his tenure, the redevelopment of downtown Oswego was begun, including the development of a new downtown comprehensive plan; several downtown projects have been completed or are under construction, including Washington Place, the first new commercial building built in Oswego in two decades; the village also saw the build out of its largest business park and the second phase of another business park; several other significant projects were completed during his tenure, including the 112,000-square-foot Anfinsen Assembly facility and the 25,000-square-foot Dreyer Medical Clinic building; and

WHEREAS, In 2003, the OEDC launched the Oswego Visitors Bureau, which promotes visitors to the community; last year, AmericInn Lodge & Suites became the second hotel to open in Oswego; Mr. Krahn is still active in the OEDC and currently chairs the OEDC's capital campaign, which is raising funds for the OEDC's new office space in downtown Oswego; he also serves as a member of the Oswego Visitors Bureau Advisory Board; and

WHEREAS, He is a lifelong resident of Oswego; he and his wife, Peggy, own Fox Valley Trophy in downtown Oswego; they are both very active in the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dave Krahn on the occasion of his retirement as founding director of the Oswego Economic Development Corporation Board, and we thank him for his service on the Oswego Village Board of Trustees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Krahn as an expression of our esteem.
