HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Ronald E. Everett, Ph.D., will be retiring June 30, 2006, after 40 years of service in the field of education; he is Professor Emeritus of Educational Administration and School Business Management at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and has served as Executive Director of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (Illinois ASBO) since 1982; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Everett received his Bachelor of Science degree, Master of Arts degree, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah; and

WHEREAS, He spent 17 years in such roles as a classroom teacher, Business Manager, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent and 25 years in his university assignment and as Executive Director; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Everett received the first ASBO International Eagle Award (Service to the Profession), the IASA Van Miller Outstanding Scholar Practitioner Award from the University of Illinois and the Illinois Association of School Administrators, and was installed as Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Lincolnshire-Humberside University in Lincoln, England, where he annually lectures in their MBA program for school bursars; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Everett has published many articles in the area of school finance and school business management and recently completed a second edition of an accounting textbook for school administrators; in addition to his publication record, he has spoken at conferences and conducted seminars and workshops in Canada, Chile, United Kingdom, China, South Africa, Australia, and throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, His current efforts focus on delivering the full Master's Degree in School Business Management Program online; in addition to his other activities, Dr. Everett previously served on and continues to serve on numerous educational consortia and other associations and committees relating to the field of education; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor and recognize Dr. Everett for his 40 years of service and outstanding leadership in the field of education; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Everett as an expression of our respect and esteem and with our best wishes on the occasion of his retirement.
