HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Kelly Cruse of Marion was crowned Miss Illinois
3 Teen USA 2005 on November 21, 2004 after competing against 169
4 other contestants in Chicago; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She is the daughter of Greg and Lisa Cruse of
6 Marion; she will compete for the national Miss Teen USA pageant
7 title in August 2005; and
 
8     WHEREAS, In August, in the first pageant she ever entered,
9 Kelly was crowned queen of the Williamson County Fair; and
 
10     WHEREAS, After attending Marion High School, Kelly opted
11 for home schooling this year to allow her a more flexible
12 schedule, with more time for a full-time ministry; she is now a
13 junior, and expects to graduate in May; she was active in bands
14 and choir in high school, and now plays with a youth praise and
15 worship band at Cornerstone Community Church in Marion, her
16 family's church; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She studies voice and played alto saxophone in the
18 high school band; she plays and composes music on the piano and
19 guitar, and is working on her second CD of original music; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Kelly is a cancer survivor; and
 
21     WHEREAS, She plans to obtain a master's degree and work in
22 crisis intervention, counseling women and teens; her pageant
23 win put an internship for the ministry on hold this summer;
24 therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Kelly Cruse on being crowned Miss Illinois Teen
28 USA 2005, we are proud to have such a remarkable young lady

1 representing our state, and we wish her success in the Miss
2 Teen USA pageant and during her reign as Miss Illinois Teen
3 USA; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Kelly Cruse in recognition of her outstanding
6 accomplishments.
