HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to recognize significant milestones in the lives of citizens of the State; and

WHEREAS, In 1954, Grover Sloan graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Doctorate of Medicine; he finished his internship in 1955; he went on to serve in the medical field as a member of the United States Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and Fort Polk in Louisiana; he returned to Illinois and began his private practice on October 21, 1957, in Carrier Mills; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sloan is a lifetime member of the Academy of Family Physicians; he is also a member of the AMA and the Illinois State Medical Society; he has been associated with ISMIE since its inception in 1979, and he has been on the Board of Directors since 1979; and

WHEREAS, He has been married to his wife, Betty, for 41 years; they have six children, 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Dr. Grover Sloan for his many years of devoted service to the people of Southern Illinois, and we congratulate him on the notable achievement of 50 years of service in the medical field; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Sloan as an expression of our deepest respect and esteem.
