| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Charles A. Shonkwiler is retiring as Regional |
| 3 |
| Superintendent of Schools for Macon-Piatt Counties; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, He attended Danville Junior College and earned a |
| 5 |
| Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree from the |
| 6 |
| University of Illinois; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Shonkwiler has been the Regional |
| 8 |
| Superintendent since 1999; prior to that, he was an |
| 9 |
| administrator for Decatur Public Schools; he was a classroom |
| 10 |
| teacher and coach at Eisenhower High School for four years and |
| 11 |
| Lakeview High School for 11 years; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He is active in his community and has been |
| 13 |
| involved with the Decatur Area Labor-Management Committee, the |
| 14 |
| Decatur Breakfast Sertoma Club (past president), the Workforce |
| 15 |
| Investment Board, Rotary International, and Westminster |
| 16 |
| Presbyterian Church, where he is an ordained elder; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Shonkwiler is a past president and member of |
| 18 |
| PDK; he is also a member of the Illinois Association of |
| 19 |
| Regional Superintendents of Schools and the Illinois |
| 20 |
| Association of School Administrators; therefore, be it
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 23 |
| we congratulate Charles A. Shonkwiler on the occasion of his |
| 24 |
| retirement as Regional Superintendent of Schools for |
| 25 |
| Macon-Piatt Counties, and we thank him for his commitment to |
| 26 |
| education and students; and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 28 |
| presented to Mr. Shonkwiler as an expression of our respect and |
| 29 |
| esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
