HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Mautino name has been a part of Bureau County history since 1905; Anton and Mary Ottino Mautino came to America that year, settling in Spring Valley; along with their son, Frank "Mule", they had two other children, Mrs. John (Jean) Pini and Mrs. James (Madelon) Andreoni, of Spring Valley; and

WHEREAS, In 1905, Anton started in business with the Star Union Brewing Company; after the repeal of prohibition in 1934, he was a Star Model Distributor; Mule took over in 1947 and established Mautino Distributing Co. with two employees; and

WHEREAS, In 1951, Mule added Hamm's Beer to the distributing list; he then acquired the Miller Brewing Co. franchise in 1972, also adding wines, bar supplies, and glassware for local retailers in addition to his own private label of liquor; and

WHEREAS, In 1972, the business was moved from 330 West Dakota Street in Spring Valley, a 5,000 square foot warehouse, to the present location at 500 North Richards Street, a 36,000 square foot building; and

WHEREAS, Mule's son, Tony Mautino, took over the management and responsibilities for Mautino Distributing Co. in 1974, the same year his brother, Richard A. Mautino Sr., was elected to the Illinois General Assembly; that year the company had seven employees, and later it had 27 employees; currently, the company is up to 50 employees and still growing; and

WHEREAS, The product line of the Mautino Distributing Co. has expanded by selling a lot of juices, juice vending machines, beer, and supplies; in January of 1985, the company became a distributor of Coors beer; the business has expanded into several counties, including Bureau, Marshall, LaSalle, Putnam, Livingston, and Grundy; and

WHEREAS, Mule Mautino died in 1988, and Tony Mautino became President of the Mautino Distributing Co., with his son, Mark, becoming the General Manager; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Mautino Distributing Co. on being in business for 100 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Mautino Distributing Co. as an expression of our esteem.
