HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Alvin R. Scott, Sr. Athletic Center in Chicago is scheduled to be dedicated on June 26, 2005; and

WHEREAS, The new facility will stand as a monument to Coach Scott, who passed away on March 3, 2005; the facility is a state-of-the-art gymnasium located at Simeon Career Academy at 8147 South Vincennes Avenue; and

WHEREAS, The new gymnasium will maintain a tradition of excellence established by Coach Scott; it will provide students with the opportunity to develop their athletic skills and leadership abilities; it will honor a man who gave most of his life to help young men and women to realize their life's dreams; and

WHEREAS, Today, thousands of the young men and women touched by Coach Scott have made valuable contributions to society and now lead productive lives due largely to Coach Scott's dedication, commitment, and investment in their future; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the faculty, students, and alumni of Simeon Career Academy in Chicago on the occasion of the dedication of the Alvin R. Scott, Sr. Athletic Center; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Simeon Career Academy as an expression of our esteem.
