| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Anna Chief of |
| 3 |
| Police Gordon Hopp retired an April 1, 2005, after 26 years of |
| 4 |
| service with the city; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He first worked for the city from 1975 to 1979 as |
| 6 |
| a police and fire dispatcher; from 1979 to 1983, he worked at |
| 7 |
| the U.S. Penitentiary at Marion; after a brief stint with the |
| 8 |
| Union County Sheriff's Department, he rejoined the Anna Police |
| 9 |
| Department; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, After serving initially as a patrolman, Chief Hopp |
| 11 |
| was named sergeant in 1989; he has served the last twelve years |
| 12 |
| as chief; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, During his tenure with the police department, he |
| 14 |
| especially enjoyed working with kids; he helped to spearhead |
| 15 |
| such activities as a youth fishing day, clean-up and |
| 16 |
| beautification projects, and DARE; thousands of flowers were |
| 17 |
| planted in Anna through beautification projects; DARE is a drug |
| 18 |
| abuse prevention program for students, which he taught for six |
| 19 |
| years; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In his retirement, Chief Hopp plans to focus on |
| 21 |
| gardening and fishing; therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we congratulate Chief Gordon Hopp on the occasion of his |
| 25 |
| retirement after 26 years of service with the city of Anna, and |
| 26 |
| we thank him for the many years he devoted to the safety and |
| 27 |
| needs of the citizens of his community; and be it further
|
| 28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 29 |
| presented to Chief Hopp as an expression of our respect and |
