1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, Members of the Illinois Army and Air National
3 Guard are performing meritorious service for the Nation in
4 support of the global war on terrorism; and

5     WHEREAS, This service reflects great credit upon the
6 Illinois Army and Air National Guard and the State of Illinois;
7 and

8     WHEREAS, It is appropriate for the State of Illinois to
9 recognize the service and sacrifices of Illinois Army and Air
10 National Guard members in support of the global war on
11 terrorism; therefore, be it

12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14 we call upon Governor Rod Blagojevich, as Commander-in-Chief of
15 the Illinois Army and Air National Guard, and through The
16 Adjutant General of Illinois as the Governor's Chief of Staff
17 for military affairs and as Director of the Department of
18 Military Affairs, to establish the Abraham Lincoln Medal of
19 Freedom to recognize the service of members of the Illinois
20 Army and Air National Guard who are mobilized in support of the
21 global war on terrorism; and be it further

22     RESOLVED, That we recommend that the criteria and process
23 by which award of the Abraham Lincoln Medal of Freedom is made
24 to members of the Illinois Army and Air National Guard be
25 determined by appropriate regulation issued by The Adjutant
26 General as Director of the Department of Military Affairs; and
27 be it further

28     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to The
29 Illinois Adjutant General and Governor Rod Blagojevich.
