HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Brenda Hannah on
4 the occasion of her retirement; and
 
5     WHEREAS, A product of the East St. Louis Public School
6 System, she attended Dunbar Elementary School, Hughes-Quinn
7 Jr. High, and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in
8 1962; she received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern
9 Illinois University at Edwardsville; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Her career with the East St. Louis School District
11 began as a teacher's aide at Longfellow Elementary School; she
12 later began her full-time teaching career at Dunbar Elementary
13 School, where she taught for over 30 years; she recently
14 transferred to John Robinson Elementary School, where she will
15 be concluding her teaching career; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Married to Harry Hannah, Ms. Hannah is the mother
17 of two sons, Todd and Keith Hannah; she has five grandchildren
18 and six sisters; she loves to write short stories and poetry;
19 she penned the motto for the former State Community College in
20 East St. Louis, "It's not how much ground you cover, but the
21 tracks you leave behind."; she also authored the poem "ABC
22 School", which expresses her love for children and teaching;
23 and
 
24     WHEREAS, She has been a member of Mount Olive Baptist
25 Church for more than 50 years; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate Brenda Hannah on the occasion of her
29 retirement, and we thank her for the many years she dedicated
30 to educating students in the State of Illinois; and be it

2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Ms. Hannah as an expression of our deepest respect
4 and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
