HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Irresistible Emus team from Emerson Elementary and the ICicles from Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst will be attending the Global Finals for the Destination Imagination tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Irresistible Emus team is comprised of Bridget Bergheger, Heather Callans, Miranda Deane, Caroline Dierksheide, Madeline Marsan, Keely Resing, and Rebeka Wermeling, all of whom are either 9 or 10 years old; and

WHEREAS, The Irresistible Emus won first place at the Illinois State Destination Imagination tournament held in Bloomington on April 9, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Team Manager Lisa Marsan has coached The Irresistible Emus team for two years and has coached students from Churchville Middle and York High School for the past five years; and

WHEREAS, Lisa's teams have placed first or second at the regional level and have progressed to the Illinois State Finals every year; and

WHEREAS, The ICicles are a team of 5th and 6th grade girls whose members are Nicole Foster, Anastasia Gliatis, Eva Hughes, Abby Mazzocco, Maggie Patchett, Shannon Healy, and Holly Hughes; and

WHEREAS, The ICicles came in first in the Sudden Serendipity challenge in the middle school category; and

WHEREAS, The ICicles are managed by MaryNic Foster and Renee Oshinski; and

WHEREAS, Destination Imagination, Inc. is one of the world's largest creativity and problem-solving programs for youth of all ages; and

WHEREAS, Thousands of students participate annually from 47 states from the United States, 15 countries, and Canadian provinces; and

WHEREAS, Destination Imagination helps children build important, lifelong skills, such as problem-solving, teamwork, and divergent thinking; and

WHEREAS, Teams use improvisation and creativity to prepare solutions to challenges presented to them; and

WHEREAS, These two teams will now represent Illinois and compete at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Irresistible Emus and ICicles teams on their success and wish them the best of luck at the Global Finals; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bridget Bergheger, Heather Callans, Miranda Deane, Caroline Dierksheide, Madeline Marsan, Keely Resing, Rebeka Wermeling, Lisa Marsan, Nicole Foster, Anastasia Gliatis, Eva Hughes, Abby Mazzocco, Maggie Patchett, Shannon Healy, Holly Hughes, MaryNic Foster, and Renee Oshinski.
