HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives learned with sadness of the death of Anthony W. "Tony" Dyhrkopp of Gold Hill Ranch, Shawneetown, on April 10, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dyhrkopp was born September 17, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Einar and Frances (Sanders) Dyhrkopp of Shawneetown; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Shawneetown High School in 1965 and received his Juris Doctorate degree from North Carolina in 1974; he also studied at Chicago Kent College of Law, Parson College, and enrolled in a European study program with the International College of Copenhagen, Denmark, spending considerable time in Russia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, East and West Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Spain; and

WHEREAS, He served as an Assistant Illinois Attorney General, specializing in revenue litigation and consumer fraud, between two terms as Gallatin County State's Attorney; he also served as a Hearing Officer for Secretary of State Jessie White; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of First Baptist Church in Shawneetown; he was vice-president of Tecumseh International, an alumni of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, a member of the Equality Masonic Lodge 2, and a lifelong Democrat; and

WHEREAS, He will be remembered as an affable man with a good sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Myrtle Schwander and his great-grandfather, Guy R. Lambert; his grandmother Vevith (Denton) Dyhrkopp; his grandfather, Victor Dyhrkopp; his great-grandmother, Sarah H. Denton; and his great-uncle, Col. Samuel A. Denton, and his wife, Ethel; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Anthony W. "Tony" Dyhrkopp is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 28 years, Ellen (Lambert) Dyhrkopp; his sons, Douglas Einar Dyhrkopp and Aaron Joseph Dyhrkopp; his daughter, Kara Ruth Dyhrkopp; his parents, Einar and Frances Dyhrkopp; and numerous other relatives; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Anthony W. "Tony" Dyhrkopp and extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
