HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Forte, the show choir of Palatine High School, on being named Grand Champion at the 27th annual Watseka Show Choir Invitational; and

WHEREAS, The competition was held at Watseka Community High School on March 13, 2005; Forte competed against 12 other show choirs from Illinois, Indiana, and Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Forte's director, Steve Sivak, also won first place for choreography; he choreographs and arranges the choir's music himself; the majority of other competing schools' show choirs purchase their choreography; and

WHEREAS, The group also placed first in the Festival Division at the Chicagoland Showcase held at Hersey High School on March 5, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Forte is comprised of 30 sophomores, juniors, and seniors; the choir has been in existence for four years and this is the groups's third year of competition; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we offer our congratulations to the student members of Forte and director Steve Sivak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Forte as an expression of our respect and esteem and with best wishes for the group's continued success.
