HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Pat O'Shaughnessy has been named the 72nd recipient of the First Citizen award by the Danville AMBUCS chapter; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Shaughnessy was born on March 25, 1959, in Peoria; he is a 1977 graduate of Catlin High School and a 1981 graduate of Illinois State University, where he earned a B.S. in Ag-Business and a B.A. in Economics; and

WHEREAS, AMBUCS is a national service club dedicated to creating opportunities for independence for people with disabilities, especially children; each year, the Danville chapter designates an area resident who has contributed significantly to the community personally or professionally as its First Citizen; and

WHEREAS, Mr. O'Shaughnessy received a record 17 nominating letters and stood out because of his involvement with numerous activities, his selfless giving, leadership by example, and his willingness to inspire others to get involved; and

WHEREAS, He is the co-owner of Vermilion County Title, Inc., and was the chairman of the Danville Area United Way campaign last year and will chair the campaign again this year; he also chaired the first Festival of Trees, a holiday fundraiser for Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation's outreach programs; he worked to rename the Catlin Recreation Complex as the Don Lashment Recreation Complex in memory of the long-time football coach at Catlin High School; he has been involved with the hospital foundation, Palmer Arena, the American Red Cross, Downtown Danville Inc., the Danville Area Planning & Zoning Commission, Consumer Illinois Water Co. Community Advisory Panel, and the Balloon Classic steering committee; and

WHEREAS, He and his wife Elaine are the parents of Amy, Ryan, and Kelsey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Pat O'Shaughnessy on being named the 72nd recipient of the First Citizen award by the Danville AMBUCS chapter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. O'Shaughnessy as an expression of our respect and esteem.
