HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, John Richard Chambers served as Sheriff of Douglas
3 County from 1994 to 2004; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Mr. Chambers was born February 6, 1951, in
5 Tuscola; he is married and has two children; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in
7 Decatur and attended Lake Land College in Mattoon, Parkland
8 College in Champaign, and the FBI National Academy in Virginia;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, From 1969 to 1973, he served in the United States
11 Air Force; from 1973 to 1982, he worked in Decatur at the
12 Firestone Tire Company and Decatur Bottling Company, then with
13 the Ziegler Coal Company in Murdock; in 1982, he started with
14 the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Tuscola; he was first
15 employed as a Deputy Sheriff and Certified Evidence Control
16 Officer; he was promoted to Corporal in 1984; he served on the
17 Drug Task Force from 1985 to 1987; in 1990, he was promoted to
18 Chief Deputy; and from 1993 to 1994, he was an Atwood Police
19 Officer; and
 
20     WHEREAS, From 1983 to 1996, he received specialized
21 training in such areas as firearms, civil rights, sexual
22 assault, defensive tactics, death investigation, drug
23 interdiction, police supervision, undercover operations, labor
24 relations and management, and eavesdropping laws and
25 equipment; and
 
26     WHEREAS, From 2004, he has served as Warden for the
27 Danville Correctional facility; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we thank John Chambers for his years of public service as
2 Sheriff of Douglas County and wish him all the best in his
3 future endeavors; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to John Chambers as an expression of our esteem.
