| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Foundation recently named |
| 3 |
| Kaitlin Colver of Waukegan High School a Golden Apple Scholar |
| 4 |
| of Illinois; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Scholars program annually |
| 6 |
| identifies, recruits, and prepares 100 talented students for |
| 7 |
| teaching careers in high-need schools throughout Illinois; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Colver was one of five outstanding Lake County |
| 9 |
| high school students who were honored, along with 95 other |
| 10 |
| state scholars, at an April 9, 2005 reception at The Field |
| 11 |
| Museum in Chicago; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, In exchange for financial assistance for four |
| 13 |
| years to attend one of 53 public and private universities |
| 14 |
| across the State, enrollment in summer programs that include |
| 15 |
| teaching internships and enhanced teacher preparation, and |
| 16 |
| continual mentoring by Golden Apple Award-winning teachers, |
| 17 |
| scholars must agree to teach for five years in an Illinois |
| 18 |
| school that serves low-income students or has below-par test |
| 19 |
| scores; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we support and acknowledge academic excellence and offer our |
| 23 |
| sincerest congratulations to Kaitlin Colver for her |
| 24 |
| achievement, which has brought much honor to herself, her |
| 25 |
| family, Waukegan High School, and Waukegan Community Unit |
| 26 |
| School District No. 60; and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 28 |
| presented to Kaitlin Colver as an expression of our admiration |
| 29 |
| and esteem.
