| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, A retirement reception in honor of Deputy Chief |
| 3 |
| James Dowling of the Orland Park Police Department will be held |
| 4 |
| on Thursday, May 5, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dowling was born on July 22, 1952; he grew up |
| 6 |
| in Oak Lawn, where he graduated from Our Lady of Loretto |
| 7 |
| Catholic Grammar School and Oak Lawn Community High School; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Dowling valiantly served his country |
| 9 |
| as a member of the United States Marine Corps from September of |
| 10 |
| 1970 through August of 1973; he had duty overseas in Okinawa |
| 11 |
| and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant E-5; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He began employment with the Orland Park Police |
| 13 |
| Department in January of 1975; throughout his career, he has |
| 14 |
| held the position of Patrolman, Investigator, Investigations |
| 15 |
| Commander, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Commander, Field Operations |
| 16 |
| Commander, Deputy Chief of Police, and Acting Chief of Police; |
| 17 |
| and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, He holds both a bachelor's degree and master's |
| 19 |
| degree from Lewis University; on June 30, 2004, he married the |
| 20 |
| love of his life, Deb; he enjoys golfing, boating, and C.A.R.T. |
| 21 |
| Auto Racing; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we congratulate Deputy Chief James Dowling of the Orland Park |
| 25 |
| Police Department on the occasion of his retirement after 30 |
| 26 |
| years of service, and we thank him for his dedication to the |
| 27 |
| citizens of his community; and be it further
|
| 28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to him as an expression of our respect and esteem and |
