HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, After 24 years of dedicated service with the Village of Northbrook, Lona N. Louis will retire on April 26, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Lona began her career with the Village in 1981, serving as Administrative Secretary to the Assistant Village Manager and support for the Director of Finance and Data Processing Manager; over the years, she has served as Administrative Assistant and Assistant to the Village Manager, Benefits Coordinator, and Risk Manager; and

WHEREAS, On July 25, 1987, in addition to her other Village responsibilities, Lona was appointed to fill the term of then-retiring Village Clerk Sandra Kent; in 1989, she was elected as Village Clerk for the first of four consecutive four-year terms; in all, Lona has served as Village Clerk for almost 19 years; she earned her Master's Degree from Roosevelt University in 1996; in June 2003, she retired from her full-time position, but continued her Village Clerk responsibilities until the end of her elected term; and

WHEREAS, Lona is a very positive character with a great attitude and work ethic; her long history of public service is well-respected in the community and her variety of skills and knowledge about the Village and municipal functions will be greatly missed; and

WHEREAS, Her personnel file is full of thank-you notes, certificates of appreciation, certificates of training, and letters from Congressmen to Cub Scouts; she has touched the lives of so many in the Northbrook community - from her involvement with the schools, relating local government responsibilities to students, to volunteering with the 4th of July Association, the Northbrook Centennial, the Northbrook United Methodist Church, and teaching English as a second language; her endless enthusiasm as an active resident and a public servant inspired those who worked with her; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lona N. Louis on her exemplary 24-year career as both an employee and an elected official of the Village of Northbrook and wish her all the best in her retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lona N. Louis as an expression of our esteem.
