HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Robert A. Uhe, a gifted attorney whose contribution to the Illinois House of Representatives will be greatly missed by the members of this body, has made the decision to resign his position as Chief Legal Counsel to the Speaker and Parliamentarian of the Illinois House of Representatives; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Uhe is a 1990 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a 1993 graduate of the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Uhe joined the legal staff of the Office of the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives in 1998, and was quickly promoted to Chief Legal Counsel for Speaker Michael J. Madigan; and

WHEREAS, As Parliamentarian of the Illinois House of Representatives, he ruled on countless parliamentary procedure inquiries and drafted the rules of parliamentary procedure for five General Assemblies; and

WHEREAS, As the ethics officer for the House Democratic Caucus, he developed ethics rules that have guided and assisted members and employees; and

WHEREAS, He has mentored dozens of lawyers serving on the Technical Review staff and earned their respect and affection as a brilliant and dedicated lawyer; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Uhe has substantially contributed to the development of legislation on such important issues as redistricting, ethics reform, electric utility regulation, telecommunications regulation, and medical malpractice insurance reform; and

WHEREAS, His commitment to the House of Representatives has helped shape legislative policies that will have a lasting beneficial effect on the citizens of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Uhe is respected by both sides of the aisle in the Statehouse and is considered a leading authority on legal questions dealing with the legislative process; and

WHEREAS, His wise counsel and advise was a great influence on members of the General Assembly and staff; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Uhe, his wife, Gretchen, and their children, Ingrid, Liesel, and Roger, look forward to spending more time together as Mr. Uhe embarks on a career in the private sector; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Mr. Robert A. Uhe, Chief Legal Counsel to the Office of the Speaker and Parliamentarian of the Illinois House of Representatives, for his years of dedication and service to the Illinois House of Representatives; that his advice and guidance will be missed; that we wish him success and happiness in every future endeavor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Robert A. Uhe.
