HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Tim Murphy, Frankfort Community High School art instructor and volleyball coach, spends his Christmas on Candy Cane Lane; and

WHEREAS, Candy Cane Lane is a light show that has been a hit since 1988; Mr. Murphy starts putting up decorations for the spectacular on November 1 each year; and

WHEREAS, Disney inspired characters are a popular theme, and this year Chicken Little and the Incredibles make their first appearances; there are over 500 plywood and Styrofoam images, 20,000 to 30,000 lights, and 400 electrical cords and cables making up the Christmas show; and

WHEREAS, Santa, Jurassic Park, the Beach Boys, E.T., and Elvis are also featured in the lighted production; and

WHEREAS, Southern Illinois residents and the people of West Frankfort look forward to the display every Christmas; and

WHEREAS, East Clark Street in West Frankfort now includes nearly 25 homes in the display; over 80,000 cars visit the area each year; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Tim Murphy on a job well done and thank him for making Christmas a little brighter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tim Murphy.
