| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Sheriff David Owens of McLean County has announced |
| 3 |
| his retirement on December 1, 2006; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, David Owens is a life-long resident of McLean |
| 5 |
| County, growing up in LeRoy; he and his wife, Bonnie, live in |
| 6 |
| Bloomington and have two grown children and three |
| 7 |
| grandchildren; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Sheriff Owens is a 1969 graduate of LeRoy High |
| 9 |
| School; he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Western |
| 10 |
| Illinois University; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He joined the McLean County Sheriff's Department |
| 12 |
| as a patrol deputy in 1974; he was promoted to the rank of |
| 13 |
| Sergeant in 1979; while Sergeant, he was a Patrol Shift |
| 14 |
| Commander, served as the supervisor in charge of the Criminal |
| 15 |
| Investigations Division, and served as a Crime |
| 16 |
| Prevention/Public Relations Officer; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1988; in this |
| 18 |
| capacity he supervised the Patrol Division, the Court Security |
| 19 |
| Detail, and the Communications Division of the Sheriff's |
| 20 |
| Office; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He was first elected Sheriff in November of 1998 |
| 22 |
| and was sworn in on December 1, 1998; he was re-elected in |
| 23 |
| November of 2002 and sworn in for his second term on December |
| 24 |
| 1, 2002; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 26 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 27 |
| we congratulate Sheriff David Owens on his retirement after |
| 28 |
| thirty-three years of service to the people of McLean County |
| 29 |
| and wish him continued success in his future endeavors; and be |
