HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate William "Bill" Penn on the occasion of his retirement from the UAW International Union; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Penn has served in many capacities in the UAW, starting out in Local 592 as Department Steward; he went on to serve as Chief Steward, Recording Secretary, and President; and

WHEREAS, In 1981, he was appointed by Director James Wright to the staff of Region 4 as a Servicing Representative; in 1998, he was appointed as Sub-Regional Director in the Rockford Sub-Regional Office; he has been the Region 4 TOP Coordinator and the Region 4 IPS Coordinator; and

WHEREAS, In honor of his many years of service to the UAW, a celebration is planned for Saturday, October 21, 2006; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate William "Bill" Penn on the occasion of his retirement from the UAW International Union, and we wish him well in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Penn as an expression of our respect and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
