HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On November 4, 1906, the Sixth District Board of Christian Churches sent Harold E. Monser to Findlay, Illinois, to begin a meeting and organization of the First Christian Church in Findlay; and

WHEREAS, There were 42 charter members initially; at a revival held by Evangelist D.C. Blunt over 200 people joined, increasing the membership; and

WHEREAS, On October 6, 1908 a cornerstone was laid for the church building; and on January 24, 1909 a dedication was held for the new building; and

WHEREAS, The original church building was destroyed by fire on December 7, 1952; on October 11, 1953 a cornerstone was laid for the new building, and the first service was held on April 18, 1954; and the building was dedicated on May 9th of the same year; and

WHEREAS, On May 7, 1967 a new education wing was dedicated; and

WHEREAS, A rededication service was held for the church building on May 30, 2004; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the pastor and congregation of the First Christian Church of Findlay, Illinois, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the church; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the congregation of the First Christian Church in Findlay, Illinois.
