HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mueller will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and

WHEREAS, Ken and Mary Lou Mueller were married at Resurrection Parish on the West Side of Chicago on October 27, 1956; they honeymooned in the Poconos; and

WHEREAS, The Muellers lived on Laramie Avenue in Chicago before moving to Glendale Heights in 1963; they attended St. Matthew's Catholic Church where Ken served as an usher and where Mary Lou served numerous posts, including membership on the Parish Council, service as the school secretary, and worked Bingo for 13 years; and

WHEREAS, Since 1999, the Muellers are enjoying their retirement in Plainfield, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Ken and Mary Lou Mueller are the proud parents of daughters, Cathy and Cindy; and the proud grandparents of Jackie, Becky, Nikki, Renee, Sean, and Jake; the Mueller's first great-grandchild, Aiden Thomas, is due in October 2006; and

WHEREAS, Family and friends will be celebrating the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Ken and Mary Lou Mueller on November 3, 2006, where they will attend a Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Romeoville, where the couple will renew their vows; afterwards, a party at Club Carillon will be hosted in their honor; and

WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its highest plateaus when a couple such as Ken and Mary Lou celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Ken and Mary Lou stand as examples of the best of our society, and their love and devotion to each other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's world; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mueller on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, and we commend them for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with family and rich in friendships; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem and with our wishes for happiness and good health in the future.
