HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate the Developing Communities Project on the occasion of the organization's Annual Victory Convention and 20th Year Anniversary Celebration; and

WHEREAS, Developing Communities Project (DCP) is a faith-based grassroots group organizing and advocating for social change in the Greater Roseland Community; its Board of Directors is comprised of nine pastors and eighteen lay leaders from the Greater Roseland Community; and

WHEREAS, DCP exists for the purpose of effective church-based grassroots organizing; its mission continues to be the development of indigenous community residents and institutions for the purpose of solving urban neighborhood problems; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Victory Convention and 20th Year Anniversary Celebration is scheduled for Friday, September 22, 2006, at Lilydale First Baptist Church in Chicago; Mr. Phillip Thomas, Senior Program Officer at the Chicago Community Trust, is the keynote speaker for the event; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Developing Communities Project on the occasion of the organization's Annual Victory Convention and 20th Year Anniversary Celebration; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the DCP as an expression of our esteem.
