HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with deep sadness of the death of
4 U.S.M.C. Corporal Ryan John Cummings of Streamwood and Crystal
5 Lake on Saturday, June 3, 2006, while on duty in Iraq; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Corporal Cummings was born on April 6, 1984, in
7 Barrington to Janis Cummings and John Cummings; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a 2002 graduate of Hoffman Estates High
9 School, where he had been an honor roll student, an active
10 member of the band and marching band, and a member of the
11 wrestling team; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 1st
13 Marines, stationed in Iraq; he had been a Marine since he
14 enlisted just after high school graduation; he served his first
15 tour, chose to re-enlist, and had been to Iraq twice before
16 this tour; and
 
17     WHEREAS, As a member of the Marines, Corporal Cummings had
18 been awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the
19 Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Humanitarian Service
20 Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Sea Service Deployment
21 Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global
22 War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense
23 Service Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation, and the Navy, Marine
24 Corps Commendation Medal with Combat V Device and the Good
25 Conduct Medal; and
 
26     WHEREAS, The passing of Corporal Ryan John Cummings has
27 been deeply felt by many, especially his mother, Janis
28 Cummings; his father, John (Melissa) Cummings; his
29 grandparents, Carol Waldron and Lorraine and Robert Cummings;
30 his siblings, Kevin, Kristen, and Jason; and his many aunts and

1 uncles; he was preceded in death by his grandparent, Dee
2 Waldron and his uncle, John Iverson; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we mourn the passing of U.S.M.C. Corporal Ryan John Cummings,
6 and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and
7 all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Corporal Cummings and
9 his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making
10 the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest
13 condolences.
