HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Nestled on a 90-acre site in southern Illinois, the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts celebrates the arts year-round with exciting visual and performing arts programs for the public; and

WHEREAS, The 30th Cedarhurst Craft Fair takes place on September 9 and 10, on the grounds of the Mitchell Museum at Cedarhurst in Mt. Vernon; and

WHEREAS, Regarded as one of the largest arts and crafts fairs in Illinois, the Cedarhurst craft fair annually draws in more than fifteen-thousand spectators; and

WHEREAS, Arriving from around the country for the two-day event, more than 100 artisans will offer a variety of crafts on the tree-shaded grounds of Cedarhurst; the juried craft fair showcases the work of quality craftsmen ranging in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, basketry, glass, jewelry, musical instruments, pottery, and yard art; and

WHEREAS, Entertainment, located behind the Mitchell House, will feature the musical styles of Dan Seals, Alvin Jett and the Phat NoiZ Blues Band, Last Man Standing, and St. Louis native, Erin Bode; food concessions will be operated by local civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, The children's area, also known as "Kidz Construction Zone" will provide activities and playtime for youngsters ages 10 and under, including mini-art sessions, a caricatures artist, tie-dye stamping, face painting, and an inflatable obstacle course; children will be able to create their own art space on the "30th Anniversary Art Canvas" which will be showcased at the Children's Gallery at Cedarhurst in the future; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts on the celebration of their 30th annual Cedarhurst Craft Fair; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we present a copy of this resolution to the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts as an expression of our esteem.
