HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois were grieved to learn of the death in Iraq of
4 Staff Sergeant Andrew R. Pokorny of Naperville on June 13,
5 2003; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He and his family moved to Naperville when Andrew
7 was five; his parents, Douglas and Marie Pokorny still live
8 there; he graduated from Naperville North High School in 1990,
9 where he was a member of the wrestling team; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Pokorny joined the U.S. Army when
11 he was 18; he was assigned to the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment
12 in Fort Carson, Colorado; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He met his wife, Martha, when they were both
14 stationed in Germany, where she was working as an
15 administrative assistant specialist for the U.S. Army; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Pokorny was devoted to his family
17 and was always involved in his children's lives, coaching
18 soccer games and chaperoning field trips; he was very outgoing
19 and friendly; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Staff Sergeant Andrew R. Pokorny
21 has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Martha
22 Pokorny; his children, Kristen, Andie, and Kodi; his parents,
23 Douglas and Marie Pokorny; his sister, Barbara Bonnet; his
24 brother, David Pokorny; and his other siblings; therefore, be
25 it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we mourn the passing of Staff Sergeant Andrew R. Pokorny; and
29 be it further

1     RESOLVED, That we celebrate and honor the life of Staff
2 Sergeant Pokorny and his willingness to serve his country,
3 which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it
4 further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to his family as an expression of our deep sadness
7 for their loss.
