HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Nat P. Ozmon, Senior Partner and a founder of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak, & Kohen, Ltd., will be celebrating his 80th birthday on March 4, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born in Davenport, Iowa, attended college at New York University, and received his law degree from Northwestern University, where he was first in his class; he was elected to the Board of Law Review and installed in the Order of the Coif, the legal scholastic honor society; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ozmon has spent over 50 years working as a trial and appellate lawyer, dedicated to preserving and enhancing the rights of injured victims; and

WHEREAS, He is a recognized Leader of the Bar, and is a Past President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; he served on the Managing Boards of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Chicago Bar Association, and The Society of Trial Lawyers; he is a pioneer in expanding the law to protect injured construction workers; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ozmon has been recognized for his work in many ways; he received the Leonard Ring Lifetime Achievement Award for his commitment to victims rights and trial by jury; he earned the American Ort Jurispurdence Award for a lifetime of distinguished service to the legal profession; the Board of Regents of the Academy of Illinois Lawyers designated him as a Laureate in recognition for his high standards and integrity in his contributions to the legal community; and he has been listed in the publications "Best Lawyers in America" and "Leading Illinois Attorneys"; and

WHEREAS, He has been a facility member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, The Illinois College of Advocacy, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education; for approximately ten years, he was an Adjunct Professor at the Loyola University School of Law, where he taught trial advocacy to senior law students; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ozmon is joined in celebrating his birthday by his wife, June Maguire Ozmon, a nurse educator, and his children, Nat P. Jr., an executive in the Aviation Department of Sundstrand Corp., Lorna, an independent radio consultant, Laird, a practicing attorney, Kelle, a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic, and stepdaughter, Rachel Maguire, an independent documentary film producer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Nat P. Ozmon on the occasion of his 80th birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Ozmon as an expression of our respect and esteem and with best wishes for many, many more birthday celebrations.
