HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize significant milestones in the lives of the people of this State; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Alberta Alice Ewart of Greenup is celebrating the 100th anniversary of her birth; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ewart was born on May 4, 1906, in Greenup, where she has lived her entire life; she graduated from Greenup High School and Millikin University with a degree in teaching; and

WHEREAS, Following graduation from Millikin University, she taught school at Greenup grade school; she taught full-time and as a substitute teacher for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Alberta married Herman D. Ewart on August 9, 1925; he passed away on April 29, 1988; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ewart has been a lifelong member of Greenup Presbyterian Church and was active in several civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, She is the proud mother of two sons, Howard and Jim; she is the grandmother of six and great-grandmother of eight; and

WHEREAS, A reception will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 6, 2006; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Alberta Alice Ewart on the occasion of her 100th birthday, and we extend to Alberta our sincere best wishes for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her as an expression of our respect and esteem.
