HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Half a century ago, in 1956, the Champaign County
3 Mental Health Clinic opened its doors as a program of the
4 Champaign County Mental Health Society; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The Mental Health Center of Champaign County,
6 Inc., became incorporated on July 22, 1968; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The Mental Health Center of Champaign County,
8 Inc., celebrates its 50th Anniversary on July 22, 2006; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The President's New Freedom Commission declared
10 that mental disorders and mental health problems affect people
11 of all backgrounds and all stages of life, and no one is
12 immune; and
 
13     WHEREAS, The Mental Health Center of Champaign County,
14 Inc., has committed to respond to the needs of mental health
15 and general well-being of its community; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI),
17 The National Council for the Community Behavioral Healthcare
18 (NCCBH), the Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities
19 (IARF), and their national partners are committed to promoting
20 recovery, raising awareness, and the understanding of mental
21 health and illness; and
 
22     WHEREAS, State and community leaders alike celebrate the
23 50th anniversary of the Mental Health Center of Champaign
24 County, Inc., and pledge to join in spreading the importance of
25 mental health for all citizens; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we recognize the Mental Health Center of Champaign County,

1 Inc., Mental Health Awareness Day Celebration on July 21, 2006,
2 in honor of the Center's influence on and dedication and
3 commitment to mental health services, which are provided to all
4 citizens without prejudice; and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the Mental Health Center of Champaign County, Inc.
