HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of this Body that Mr. David Axelrod is approaching the ripe, we will not say old, age of 50 years; we did not want it to pass without making some official comment; and

WHEREAS, David Axelrod is a nationally recognized political media consultant having produced winning media and messages for over 150 campaigns at the local, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, As a highly respected former journalist for the Chicago Tribune, Mr. Axelrod served as the City Hall bureau chief and was the youngest political writer and columnist in the paper's history; and

WHEREAS, David Axelrod most recently developed the winning media campaign in both the primary and general elections for Illinois' U.S. Senator Barak Obama, as well as an intense re-election campaign for Philadelphia Mayor John Street; he was a media strategist for the John Edwards for President campaign and is currently working as a media consultant to the Democratic National Committee; and

WHEREAS, As a specialist in urban politics, Mr. Axelrod has produced victories for mayoral candidates in major urban cities besides Philadelphia, including Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Houston, Salt Lake City, and Washington D.C.; and

WHEREAS, He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University and has lectured on political media at Harvard University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Pennsylvania; he is a much sought after national political commentator in print and television and radio; and

WHEREAS, David and his lovely wife, Susan, are the proud parents of three beautiful children; he is a generous, caring, and loyal friend and colleague to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we hereby recognize and congratulate David Axelrod on his fiftieth birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Axelrod in recognition of his many contributions to improving the quality of political dialogue in America and for being just a really great guy, father, and husband.
