HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Dr. Michael Anderson of Spring Grove is retiring from his position as Superintendent of Schools of Lake Villa School District #41 after 36 years in education; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson is a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Wartburg College (Bachelor of Arts, English), Northern Illinois University (Master of Science - Education, Counseling), and National Louis University (Doctor of Education); he has also studied at Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, He began his career as an English teacher at Tefft Junior High School in Streamwood, went on to serve as a college and career counselor at Warren Township High School in Gurnee, as Vocational Coordinator and Deputy Director at Lake County Area Vocational Center (LCAVC), as Director of Personnel and Public Relations and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Freeport School District #145, and as Superintendent of Schools for Quincy School District #172; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson has served at District #41 since 1999; during his tenure he had several major accomplishments; he supervised five district-wide curriculum reviews and adoptions, including social science, fine arts, math, language arts, and science; advanced the use of technology throughout the district to include additional computers in labs, wireless access, and phone system upgrades; instituted a personnel recognition and appreciation program for all district employees; built Martin School and an addition to Palombi Middle School for a new administrative center, board room, classrooms, and main office area for the school; purchased several properties; equalized student attendance center populations by changing school boundaries; received a Certificate of Financial Recognition from the State Board of Education; secured grants; established a strong relationship with Lake Villa Township, including an intergovernmental agreement for common use of property at Martin School; and did many things to improve the safety of the Lake Villa School District #41 schools; and

WHEREAS, He is a member of the Illinois Association of School Administrators, the American Association of School Administrators, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Illinois Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National School Public Relations Association, the Illinois Association of School, College, and University Staffing, and the Lake County Superintendents' Organization; he is also active in Rotary International; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson is married to Donna and is the father of Jason, Deidre, Morgan, and Doug; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Michael Anderson on the occasion of his retirement, and we thank him for the many years he has devoted to education; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Anderson as an expression of our esteem.
