HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, In most instances, this Illinois House of
3 Representatives has the opportunity to salute its citizens for
4 a single outstanding accomplishment or for one career when
5 retirement time arrives; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The work of Vickie Lannie of Carlock as a pioneer
7 in the field of hospice care and as a driving force behind
8 creation of the Washington Area Community Center are
9 achievements that could fill two careers to overflowing; and
 
10     WHEREAS, A native of Ohio, Vickie Lannie has spent 35 years
11 comforting more than 9,000 families in the Peoria area through
12 services first provided by Methodist Medical Center and
13 expanded to include a regional network of facilities and
14 services; and
 
15     WHEREAS, She is a graduate of the Mennonite Hospital School
16 of Nursing and Saint Mary in the Woods College with bachelor's
17 and master's degrees in pastoral care; and
 
18     WHEREAS, This unique commitment to care for those close to
19 death evolved from a nursing career which began in Bloomington;
20 and
 
21     WHEREAS, In recent years Vickie Lannie has focused her
22 considerable talents on Washington, Illinois, to move the
23 proposed community center that will offer a new library and
24 facilities for fitness, swimming, and the performing arts from
25 a dream to reality; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we extend our most sincere congratulations to Vickie Lannie at
29 this time of her retirement, and on behalf of all Illinoisans,

1 we thank her for her efforts to make this State a better place
2 to live; and be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to Mrs. Lannie as an expression of our esteem.
