HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois congratulate Eastern Illinois University's (EIU) Cheer Team on their 8th place finish at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Division I Championships in Orlando, Florida, January 14-17, 2005; and

WHEREAS, There were over 170 teams that began competition in various divisions/categories and ten teams advanced to Florida for the finals; this was EIU's first national competition; and

WHEREAS, EIU's Cheer Team is coached by Tom Leong, Beth Frost, and Danielle Fox; Dr. Andrew M. White is their advisor; and

WHEREAS, The 2005 EIU Cheer Team included Ryan Bell, Josh Celvi, Andrew Coy, Christopher De Rosa, Lindsey Gehl, Shannon Goering, Eric Kuncl, James McLauchlan, Emily McCrary, Jackie Schif, Joe Sebright, Carly Shonk, Shauna Sutton, Dan Swanson, Ashley Tomlinson, and Ashley Vandermoon; and

WHEREAS, Competitive cheerleading is a mixture of enthusiasm, perfect coordination, and group solidarity; this accomplishment is a testament to their hours of hard work and dedication; and

WHEREAS, The cheerleaders have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual cheerleaders and their coaches and bring honor to EIU; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend and congratulate EIU's Cheer Team, their coaches, and their advisor on their 8th place in the nation finish at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Division I Championships and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eastern Illinois University as an expression of our esteem and with best wishes for continued success in the future.
