HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Jeanne Hatfield retired from her position as City Clerk of Johnston City on Friday, March 17, 2006, after nearly 26 years of service; and

WHEREAS, She began her career at city hall as Deputy Clerk under Mary William, whom Mrs. Hatfield was appointed to replace after she retired; Mrs. Hatfield was elected to the position in 1985 and has been re-elected as City Clerk every election since then; she has served with five mayors; and

WHEREAS, She is a native of Johnston City and graduated from the town's high school in 1953; she and her husband, Jack, have five children, Mary Jane Hatfield, Donna Lawrence, Bill Hatfield, Karen Staples, and Natalie Jamison; they have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, In her retirement, she plans to play golf, possibly take up cross stitch again, and just do whatever she feels like doing; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jeanne Hatfield on the occasion of her retirement as City Clerk of Johnston City; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Hatfield as an expression of our esteem and our best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
