| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Roger John will retire from his position as |
| 3 |
| executive director of the Peoria Housing Authority (PHA) on |
| 4 |
| August 1, 2006, after serving in the position for ten years; |
| 5 |
| and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born in Peoria in September of 1941 and has |
| 7 |
| lived in the area for most of his life; he spent four years in |
| 8 |
| the U.S. Coast Guard and returned to Peoria in 1963; he briefly |
| 9 |
| worked for Caterpillar in East Peoria and went on to work at |
| 10 |
| Central Illinois Light Company (CILCO); he earned a B.A. in |
| 11 |
| management from Sangamon State University; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. John worked at CILCO for a total of 32 years |
| 13 |
| and retired in 1995; he was tapped in 1996 to temporarily fill |
| 14 |
| the executive director position at the PHA and was the seventh |
| 15 |
| person to head the troubled agency in a decade; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the PHA made it off of the |
| 17 |
| federal government's troubled list and many improvements were |
| 18 |
| made; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He has volunteered with the United Way, Junior |
| 20 |
| Achievement, Boy Scouts, the Peoria Chamber of Commerce, |
| 21 |
| Illinois Valley Wheelm'n, the Illinois Valley Striders, and the |
| 22 |
| Peoria Art Guild; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. John and his wife enjoy running, cycling, |
| 24 |
| kayaking, cultural events, prairie gardening, and many other |
| 25 |
| things; he also enjoys working on his eclectic collection of |
| 26 |
| old cars and truck; therefore, be it
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 29 |
| we congratulate Roger John on the occasion of his retirement, |
