| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | | 3 |
| Representatives are honored to recognize significant events in | | 4 |
| the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
| | 5 |
| WHEREAS, Kevin McCann is retiring from his position as | | 6 |
| Principal of Jamieson Elementary School in Chicago; and
| | 7 |
| WHEREAS, Kevin McCann graduated from St. Patrick High | | 8 |
| School in 1969; he earned a Liberal Arts and Science degree | | 9 |
| from Depaul University in 1973 and continued his education at | | 10 |
| DePaul University, earning a Masters degree in School | | 11 |
| Administration in 1976; and
| | 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. McCann taught in a general education classroom | | 13 |
| from 1974 until 1977 at Bell School and then taught upper grade | | 14 |
| mathematics at LaSalle Language Academy from 1977 until 1991; | | 15 |
| in 1991 he became the Principal at Jamieson Elementary School; | | 16 |
| and
| | 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. McCann helped Jamieson Elementary School to be | | 18 |
| recognized through achievements in many different disciplines; | | 19 |
| under his leadership, the school received awards for success in | | 20 |
| academic bowls, history fairs, science fairs, oratory, math | | 21 |
| competition, athletics, and robotics; and
| | 22 |
| WHEREAS, Kevin McCann received many awards throughout his | | 23 |
| career; in 1979, he was Teacher of the Year at LaSalle Language | | 24 |
| Academy; he received the Kate Maremont Dedicated Teacher Award | | 25 |
| in 1989; in 1990, he was recognized as the Milken Family | | 26 |
| Foundation Illinois Distinguished Educator; and, in 1999, he | | 27 |
| received the Finalist Outstanding Leadership Award, Chicago | | 28 |
| Principals Association and Chicago Public Schools; and
| | 29 |
| WHEREAS, Kevin McCann and his wife, Carol, were married on |

| June 22, 1991; and he is the proud father of 3 children, | | 2 |
| Maggie, Rachel, and Bridget; therefore, be it
| | 3 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | | 4 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | | 5 |
| we congratulate Kevin McCann on his retirement as Principal of | | 6 |
| Jamieson Elementary School after a 32 year career in education | | 7 |
| and wish him a happy and relaxing retirement; and be it further
| | 8 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 9 |
| presented to Kevin McCann.
