HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) has selected Mike Polz of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park as its National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year for 2006; and

WHEREAS, Coach Polz is the NHSCA's first selection for 2006, and there were 20 winners from 15 different states in 2005; he was honored as Coach of the Year at the Coaches and Officials Championships Banquet in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, March 23, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was a two-time state qualifier at Riverside-Brookfield High School in the mid-1970s and is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, This year, he led the Carl Sandburg Eagles to a 33-0 record and their second consecutive Class AA dual-team state championship; and

WHEREAS, He has coached for 18 years, four years at Providence Catholic High School and the last 14 years at Carl Sandburg High School; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mike Polz on being named the National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year for 2006; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Polz as an expression of our esteem.
