HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Barbara McKinley-Lewis recently announced her retirement as the Director of Community Relations for the Village of University Park; she has been an employee of the Village since January 16, 1985; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure as the Director of Community Relations, she has served many community programs, organizations, and committees including, but not limited to, the Matteson Area Chamber of Commerce, Diversity, Inc., the Illinois Association of Human Rights Workers, the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance, United Way of University Park, the Community Recognition, Cable Advisory, Education Advisory, and Marketing and Senior Citizen Committees; and

WHEREAS, She has assisted with, directed, or otherwise participated in numerous Village projects, such as the creation of a Village brochure, an information guide, a community newsletter, the coordination of the Village's participation in "Hands Across America" in 1986, the Sister Cities program, and the annual Labor Day, Family Fling and Unity Day festivities; and

WHEREAS, She has consistently strived to improve the standing of the Village and the quality of life for its residents by carrying out her duties as the Director of Community Relations with enthusiasm, compassion, understanding, and the highest degree of integrity and professionalism; and

WHEREAS, Barbara McKinley-Lewis's unfailing dedication and selfless public service will be greatly missed; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we offer our congratulations to Barbara McKinley-Lewis on her retirement and express our sincere appreciation for her many years of exceptional public service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Barbara McKinley-Lewis as an expression of our esteem.
