HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to recognize Maurice "Maury" Doyle on the occasion of his retirement as Macon County Democratic Party Chair; and

WHEREAS, Maurice "Maury" Doyle was born in Fayette County on June 28, 1938; he graduated from Niantic-Harristown High School in 1956 and DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago in 1959; and

WHEREAS, He married Frances Elaine Smith in June of 1959; he is the father of Jeff, Jay, and Mendi and the proud grandfather of Casey Doyle and Kyle Doyle; and

WHEREAS, He has served his community in many capacities, including as a Khoury League Baseball Coach from 1967 to 1987 and as a member of the Harristown Fire Dept. from 1960 to 1966; he was appointed Deputy Sheriff by Sheriff Charles Peters, serving from 1962 to 1966; and

WHEREAS, He was the owner of Communication Co. from 1966 to 1991; he has been the co-owner of "Franny's on Merchant" since 1993 and is a member of the Downtown Decatur Council; he was a charter member of the Harristown Village Board, serving from 1970 to 1974; he served as a school board member for the Niantic Harristown School District from 1972 to 1979 and was appointed Harristown Township Supervisor in January of 1971; he was then elected Supervisor in April of 1971 and still serves today; and

WHEREAS, As Supervisor he automatically became a member of the Macon County Board of Supervisors in 1971 and 1972, and he was elected to the Macon County Board, serving from 1976 to 1980; he also served as the Deputy Coroner under Chris Vallas from 1980 to 1993 and has been a member of the Harristown Precinct Committee since 1994; he has served as Macon County Democratic Chairman since 1998; and

WHEREAS, As a baseball coach, deputy sheriff, firefighter, and business owner, Maury Doyle has always reflected the spirit of giving back to the community; and

WHEREAS, As a precinct committeeman and as Party Chairman, he has worked tirelessly to advance the principles of the Macon County Democratic Party; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Maury Doyle on the occasion of his retirement as Macon County Democratic Party Chairman, and we thank him for his many years of service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Maury Doyle as an expression of our esteem.
