| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate the citizens of |
| 4 |
| Schaumburg on the occasion of the village's fiftieth |
| 5 |
| anniversary; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, When it was incorporated in 1956, there were just |
| 7 |
| 130 residents; today, Schaumburg boasts 75,500 people as well |
| 8 |
| as countless businesses big and small; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, A special event marking the village's |
| 10 |
| half-century was held in the theater of the Prairie Center for |
| 11 |
| the Arts on Tuesday, March 7, 2006; the night included a |
| 12 |
| multi-media presentation on the village's entire history, |
| 13 |
| researched and prepared by a team of 14 Schaumburg High School |
| 14 |
| students; a witty and whimsical English-style ballad featuring |
| 15 |
| the village, written and recorded by Dan Marcotte; an interview |
| 16 |
| with three figures from the village's past, LaVonne Presley, |
| 17 |
| Jack Siegel, and Russ Parker; and the evening ended with |
| 18 |
| birthday cake and a champagne toast for all who attended; Mayor |
| 19 |
| Al Larson served as host for the many festivities; therefore, |
| 20 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 23 |
| we congratulate the citizens of Schaumburg on the occasion of |
| 24 |
| the village's fiftieth anniversary, and we wish them a peaceful |
| 25 |
| and prosperous future; and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to the Village of Schaumburg as an expression of our |
| 28 |
| esteem.
